and Dr. David Bullard.
The Buddhist practice of mindfulness caught on in the west when we began to understand the everyday, personal benefits it brought us. Now, in a rare Bay Area appearance, the highly acclaimed thought leader and longtime English translator of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, shows us that the benefits of developing greater compassion may be even more life changing than the practice of mindfulness. He will be reading from his extraordinary new book, A Fearless Heart: How the Courage to Be Compassionate Can Transform Our Lives, which is based on the scientific experiments he helped formulate to inform the Compassion Cultivation Training program he co-created at Stanford University. In conversation with David Bullard, Ph.D., UCSF clinical professor of medicine and medical psychology (psychiatry), he will address issues of compassion in the medical community.
This event is free and open to the public.
